I LUVVVV little People!!!

Hello All!  This past Friday one of Poppi's litter kids was in town with his family for a couple of days as his wife was graduating with her PHD and their little one was with them.  Well, Poppi promised the little one (that he calls J-Man) to make him pancakes for breakfast when he went to bed Friday night.
So Saturday morning, J-Man was running around - and agitating poor little Chiquita - when Poppi told him to settle down, that he was cooking pancakes.  So Poppi made blueberry pancakes with maple syrup for the J-man, along with chocolate milk to wash it down. YUMMMM! Or as Poppi said, "Breakfast of Champions".    I have to admit that Poppi is a pretty good cook.  Cause I had my share.  J-Man is not a careful eater, but with Chiquita and the 2 visiting doggies circling the chair, it was a matter of calculating the flight angles of each dropped morsel. Now I'm not one to brag (well, Much!) but I'm pretty good at canine mathematics, and I probably got 2 pieces to everyone else's one.  Plus a little choco-milk spillage.  I have to agree with Poppi - "Breakfast of Champions!"  I'll have to be on my toes this week though - as I know from Mummi's and Poppi's conversations that Poppi's entire litter family will be in this week as they celebrate Christmas.  (A bit early I know, but it's about the only time that they could all get together.)  Lots of spills and goodies to look forward to.
Hugs, kisses and belly rubs for all!

Thanksgiving Wish

Now, when my pregnant mother (a full blooded Chihuahua) was dropped off at the humane society, they said they had no idea what my father was.  I think maybe he was a sailor.  I've heard about sailors, ya know? :-)
As it is about Thanksgiving (Yum! Yum!), my family (human and my sisters) give me lots to be thankful for.  I've heard folks say, "Just be thankful for what ya have - it could be lost before you know it."  I take that to heart.  I sometimes see skinny doggies slinking along the highway when I ride somewhere with Poppi (and maybe L'il sis).  I might shudder and kinda snuggle down beside sis in Poppi's lap - happy to be where I am.  No one can save everyone, but I hear Mummi and Poppi say sometimes how happy they are with our human/canine household and it makes me happy.  We are a good family.  I hope yours is at least as happy.  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Chiquita's In Charge!

This pic for Poppi. He likes the G.D.'s Music.
Hey! Hey! HeyHeyHey! (giggle)  It's me.
Chiquita!   Boom. Boom. Chicka-chicka-boom-boom! (giggle).
As you know, I'm Sophie's little sis, and have been for almost 4 months now. I LOVE it here with big sis, Sophie, and bigger sis, Shaddow.    Shaddow is a nice old lady, but she prefers nap time to play time.  And I like to playyyyy-whheeeeeee. wheeee. wheeee! (giggle, snort.) I love it on TV when that little oinker says that  Anyway!  Sophie is not near as old as Shaddow and she will play with me some, inside.  When we go out I like to run, run-run-run, and she will do it for a bit.  But  after a couple of minutes, she's gasping for breath and complaining that her legs are too short for running.  Which I usually throw back at her by saying, "No they aren't. They reach the ground." (tee-hee!)
I know I probably rag on her a bit too much, because she really is a sweetheart.  She treats me as well, or better than my real mum would.  I love her.  I'm so glad Mummi and Poppi adopted me.  I don't remember much of my early life, but I do remember that when I first got here I was dirty, didn't smell good, and covered in fleas.  In fact, my first memory here is Poppi putting me in the tub and giving me TWO baths.  Not one, Two.  (brrrrr!)  But it got rid of the critters on me and I felt, and still feel, much better.  I really do have a good life now.  Food twice a day, a snack in the evening, plenty of water, and love all around.
Big sis Sophie will be back next time, but I just wanted to guest-blog (and may ask to do it again in the future. But before I go, let me share a little joke:  Q: What do that call it when you own too many dogs?
A: A roverdose.  (giggle. Get it? roverdose - I crack myself up)

Chicken (Chiquita) Little!

Hallloooo All!
The weather has turned quite nice in the last few days.  Cool but not cold.  Perfect for the full-figured Diva!  Not much in the way of news to pass.  Poppi and Mummi have been busy going about the business that is life.  Mummi has been a bit under the weather but now seems to be on the road to recovery. But there is one funny little incident that I would like to share......
With the cooler weather the leaves are starting to fall, along with the acorns from the oak in our front yard.  One evening Poppi had taken little sis and I out to do our business.  (Let me interrupt this story to say the Chiquita is doing much, much better with this now.  Accidents are coming much further apart.)  AnnnnyyyWaayyy....  I had finished and was nosing around the area when l'il sis assumed the position to do her business.  She was squeezing mightily and the little brown banana was about two-thirds of the way to the ground when an acorn fell and hit her on her back.  All at the same time, she yelped, jumped and pffftttt - the 'nanner disappeared.  And not on the ground.  Eeewwwww! (I nearly cried when I rolled over laughing.)  When she calmed down and realized what had happened, she composed herself, re-assumed the position (away from the tree) and did a re-dump.  That's RIGHT! She pooped the same log twice.   I know. I know.  But trust me, as disgusting as it sounds, it was funny.
Hugs, Kisses, and Belly Rubs for all!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Hello my lovelies!  After a long ( about 6 weeks) absence, I finally persuaded Poppi that I needed to get my presence back out there.  So - on to some catching up. Poppi and Mummi were understandably distracted with the arrival of the latest litter birth of their granddaughter, Savannah Sue, down in Florida.  While I understand their wanting to go down and visit the latest member of the family, I'm still a bit peeved that "moi" was left behind with a sitter.  I mean, I can understand Big Sis staying, she's a big girl and I can understand leaving little sis, she's still acclimating and getting trained.  But I am well trained and a proven traveler - I mean, really, I went all the way to Wisconsin (and back) with them once and had no accidents.  Hmmph!  However, I choose to take it that they had confidence in me watching over the other two and the homestead in their absence.
As the title indicates, today is my birthday.  In human years, I am 3.  I was born on this date in 2010.  At that time Poppi was still recovering from a bad accident, and I am proud to say that I was instrumental in his recovery.  While I was a mere youngster then, I did give him lots of TLC.  I know I won't see Poppi until late this evening as he is going to the local high school football game, but I fully expect him to treat me to the last piece of meatloaf from the fridge as a present (hint!hint!).  Poppi is a pretty good cook.
I'll try to get Poppi back to helping me with regular entries, but that's all for now.
Hugs, Kisses, and Belly Rubs for all!

Chillin' with Chiquita

Tug-O-War with Lil Sis
Halloooo my lovelies!
Life continues to be good for "moi" and my little sis, Chiquita.  She is just a baby and poppi and mumi are working hard to get her conditioned to doing her "business" outside.  She is successful about half the time, but doesn't fully understand that doing it inside does stress them a bit.  When we go out, I make a point of showing her the proper way to do things, but she is at that A.D.D. age.  Preferring to run and investigate - EVERYTHING.  I know she will grasp it eventually, but all must have patience.  After all - she just turned 5 months old this week (on Aug. 21st).
Big Sis is doing okay, but moving slow.  This is understandable though since she turned 12 on August 11th.  She is the "Grand Dame" of the home and I overheard Poppi say that if she was human (shudder!) she would be 84 years old.   A grand lady!
Poppi is excited for some reason - bees?, hornets? wasps?  YELLOWJACKETS! That's it.  Something about them playing with the football tonight for the first time this year.  I don't grasp it, but if it makes him happy - its good enough for me.  I'm more excited about the fact that he will be grilling out before leaving for the game.  Chance for "goody drops" - ya know. Yummy! That's it for now.
Hugs, Kisses, and Belly Rubs for all!

Sunday

I've said it before...................

Me and Chiquita!

..........and I'll say it again.  "Good Help is hard to find.  It's been a month since my last entry, but it has not been uneventful.

On July 3rd, Mummi and Poppi presented me with a new little sis, and she is tiny.  While just my mom was a Chihuahua, evidently both of her parents were.  Chiquita is 4 months old today and weighs 3 whole pounds, soaking wet!  She is a cutie, but sooooo energetic.  I mean, I like to play as much as the next girl, but this little bundle of dynamite wears me out.  She zips, careens and bounces around like crazy.  Barring the occasional faux pax, she is pretty well behaved.  When we got to bed, Poppi can put his arm around her and say "time to go to sleep" and she usually responds by laying down beside him and closing her eyes.

Is this Diva worried?  No!  She knows who is in charge and will quickly back off when I let her know I'm through playing.  I think she is a fine addition to our household.
Til next time, "Hugs, Kisses, and Belly rubs for all!"
